GENERAL INFORMATION

Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, is a vibrant and dynamic metropolis where the country’s rich history and modern culture converge.

Whether you’re in the city for a cultural immersion, a food trip, a relaxing break, or just passing through on a quick stopover, there are plenty of layover tours in Manila that let you experience the highlights of the capital even with limited time.

Entry Regulations
  1. VALID PASSPORT
  2. Your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your intended stay. This is a standard rule regardless of your country of origin.

  3. RETURN OR ONWARD TICKET
  4. Tourists and short-term visitors must show proof of a return or onward travel ticket upon arrival. Immigration officers may deny entry if this is not provided.

  5. PROOF OF ACCOMMODATION
  6. Foreign travelers may be asked to show proof of accommodation for the duration of their stay in the Philippines. This helps immigration verify that you have a clear travel plan and sufficient arrangements.
    Accepted proof includes:

    • Hotel or resort booking confirmation (email or printed copy)
    • Airbnb or short-term rental receipt
    • Letter of invitation from a resident host (if staying with a friend or family)
    • Barangay certificate (if staying in a local residence)

  7. E-TRAVEL REGISTRATION (MANDATORY)
    • All travelers must complete the eTravel registration form online before arriving in the Philippines.
    • Submit via:

    • Fill up 72 hours before your flight
    • Receive a QR code (screenshot or printout)

  8. TRAVEL INSURANCE
  9. While not mandatory for all, travel health insurance with COVID-19 coverage is required for unvaccinated travelers and strongly recommended for everyone.

IMMIGRATION PROCESS AT THE PHILIPPINE AIRPORT

Upon your arrival in the Philippine airport, expect the following steps:

  • Present passport and eTravel QR code
  • Answer basic questions (length of stay, purpose of visit)
  • Show return ticket and/or visa
  • Biometric scan and photo (for some travelers)
  • Baggage claim and customs clearance

CUSTOMS AND AIRPORT RULES

Philippine customs have strict rules about what you can bring into the country. Key points:

  • Duty-Free Allowance: USD 350 (goods); USD 1,500 for returning OFWs
  • Cash Limit: Up to PHP 50,000 and USD 10,000 (or equivalent foreign currency)
  • Prohibited Items: Illegal drugs, pirated goods, explosives, firearms without clearance
  • Declare any food, plant, animal, or medication products

PHT (Philippine Time) is one of the well-known names of the UTC+8 time zone, which is 8h. ahead of UTC (Coordinated Universal Time). The time offset from UTC can be written as +08:00. It's used as the standard time.

The Philippines has two official languages, FILIPINO (or PILIPINO) and ENGLISH. Filipino has eight major dialects, in order of use:
